A pressure instrument is used to determine the pressure readings of an individual. There are 3 different sorts of pressure instruments available for the purpose- aneroid monitors, mercurial sphygmomanometers and digital monitors. The aneroid monitor has a dial gauge with a pointer that displays the pressure. It also comprises of a cuff that is inflated manually by squeezing a rubber bulb. The mercurial sphygmomanometer comprises of mercury secured in storage for safe transportation and maintenance. It also comprises of a manually inflatable cuff. Additionally, pressure instruments contain a filter system that maintains the mercury clean. 


This type of pressure instruments requires a stethoscope to measure pressure. The digital pressure instrument may consist of a manual or an automatic cuff. The common rubber bulb is used for monitors who have manual cuffs while the automatic cuffs are provided with a convenient switch. The monitor comprises of a digital screen which displays the pressure reading. This particular type of monitor also indicates error and deflates automatically. While a pressure instrument is an extremely useful device, you should look for several features while choosing a pressure instrument. They include- accuracy, cuff size, stethoscope, display and price. A process automation, or simply a temperature transmitter, is an electrical system that incorporates the work of a control or measuring instrument into a single device. It is, therefore, a mixture of both types of instruments, and is therefore simultaneously flexible, reliable, and effective. 


Verify the accuracy of your pressure instruments and check whether it gives same readings repeatedly or not, at a given point of time. Different monitors are available in different cuff sizes to fit different sized arms. You should properly match the size of your cuff before you choose a pressure instrument. Poorly fitting cuffs do not give precise pressure measurement. In case your monitor has a stethoscope, you must be able to place it properly into your ears and obviously hear the sounds thru it. The pressure measurement show of a monitor should be clear and easily readable. Good care and storage of the monitor is also crucial. You must make sure that its tube isn't twisted during storage. 


Check the tube for any cracks and leaks. In addition, keep the monitor away from heat. You'll need some practice before you use the monitor perfectly. A nurse can steer you as to the way to use a monitor correctly. Use the monitor on frequent intervals so that it gives accurate readings. If you drop the device or damage it, take it to you manufacturer to get it checked before using again, as it may not work properly. A pressure instrument is a very useful device.
